Closed For The SeasonPosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 22 February 2008 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio. It snowed today....FINALLY!!! Not just a dusting or an inch either. It was a real live, snowman-making, school-closing, driveway-shoveling, late-for-work, leave-early-from-work, hot chocolate-by-the-fire type snowstorm. After months of gray and brown and mud, it's just what I've been waiting for. We received 6 inches today followed by rain and freezing rain. Taking our 5-month old lab puppy outside this morning was a riot as it was only her second experience with snow. She would stick her face in it to sniff the ground and come up with a face full of white. She was so excited by it, she literally ran circles around me at full gallop, changing direction 3 or 4 times. It was all I could do to keep her from wrapping her leash around me as I stood there and laughed at her. At lunchtime, I went out to the lake near my office and poked around with the camera for a few minutes and found this water fountain completely covered with snow, so I thought I'd try an abstract shot. Hopefully, the snow will stick around long enough this weekend that I can get more shots. Thanks for stopping by. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

Betsy Barron : www.thebetsy.com from Glenmoore, United StatesHappy Snow Day, Russ!! Glad you told us what this was... I was thinking flag pole holder? Maybe a mini-bidet? ha ha 23 Feb 2008 3:10am Angry Buddha from United StatesI know the feeling. The last few dustings have been kind of annoying. It's nice to get out and throw some snow balls or make a snow man. 24 Feb 2008 10:45pm drphoto from Newcastle upon Tyne, United KingdomI like this shot, the detail and composition are both good. For some reason the phrase 'divide by zero' keeps popping into my head.... Dan 26 Feb 2008 3:23am |
