ThunderstormPosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 8 March 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. A pretty violent thunderstorm blew in out of nowhere on Saturday evening and caught a lot of people by surprise, including me. We had a full day of heavy, soaking rains, followed by clearing and sunshine late in the afternoon that brought us gorgeous, puffy clouds. I had just left my house to try to capture the clouds and the setting sun when the winds whipped up to about 50 mph gusts and a storm blew in unexpectedly. The winds were violent enough that I started looking around for a tornado (having had one touch down within a few miles from our home at night several years ago, I get paranoid about such things). I was no more than an eighth of mile from home when the storm front moved in over us and I captured it over my neighbor's farmhouse. Thanks for stopping by "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

It did that for a little while before the rains stopped. I too thought that it was going to be nice out and noticed those cool cotton ball clouds. I must have waited a little longer than you. I was gathering up my stuff to head out and it started back up again. Oh well....nice shot by the way. 10 Mar 2008 1:11am |
