These are two Bald Eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) that flew below our helicopter as we were performing an aerial recon for an environmental project in Maryland. We were at an altitude of about 600 feet above the ground when I shot this. Note how the eagle at the bottom left of the image is looking up as we flew over.
When I used to live near Washington, many moons ago, I would see Bald Eagles from time to time along the Potomac River north of Washington, near Great Falls, Maryland. They also nest south of Washington at Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge. Fortunately, Bald Eagles are no longer considered an endangered species.
Thanks for stopping by.
