This was taken last October during a hike to Shallow Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. This is Beaver Brook, a small stream located in a marshy area between Lower Brown's Tract Pond and Shallow Lake, just a few miles from the little hamlet of Raquette Lake, New York. I remember balancing precariously on two logs that served as a foot bridge across the stream to make this image. I just made it to Shallow Lake, about 3 miles from my car, when a rip-roaring thunderstorm came up out of nowhere and gave me a good dowsing (and a rather hair-raising lightning show!). Fortunately, the camera equipment remained dry in my bag while I was soaked to the skin. I seem to run into that a lot while hiking deep in the woods. One of the minor unpleasantries of hiking in the back country, I guess.
Thanks for stopping by.
