Morning Mist, Alberter PondPosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 19 April 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This is a pond on the Alberter Farm near where I grew up in western Pennsylvania. This was taken one Easter morning at sunrise as I was driving to the Flight 93 memorial near Shanksville, PA to photograph the temporary memorial at sunrise. I had walked, ridden the school bus, bicycled and driven past this scene countless times for over 20 years while growing up there, but had never seen it like this. Needless to say, I stopped for a few moments to record the fog rolling off the pond which then migrated along a low area in the valley. It was actually more breathtaking a scene than this photo can do justice.
"The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesIt's beautiful. I can identify with knowing what a place looked like as compared to the image, but just seeing the image is wonderful:-) 19 Apr 2008 6:12am Mikel Bilbao from SpainFantastic photo! 19 Apr 2008 10:05am Betsy Barron from Glenmoore, United Statesno, that does it justice! STUNNING! One of your best -as you would say, print it, frame it, hang it! 19 Apr 2008 12:18pm Betty from New Jersey, United StatesAbsolutely beautiful. How wonderful that you were there that day to see this! Excellent shot. 19 Apr 2008 12:21pm GJC from Kyoto, JapanMy goodness. I keep working my way back through your wonderful blog and each day I am saying "Wow!" You have a marvelous eye for light and here again you show sensitivity (and good skill with your camera) to capture a magical moment. I love the great simplicity of this one. The lines and colors are all very calm. 4 May 2008 10:19pm |
