Sheeder-Hall Bridge

Posted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 1 May 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

The evening light was gorgeous last week so I took a leisurely drive home after work down a lot of little back roads...with camera in tow. This is Sheeder-Hall Bridge near Birchrunville. It was built in 1850 and spans French Creek which is a very picturesque trout stream that flows through northern Chester County. It was a beautiful warm evening, so naturally, I found several people fly fishing in French Creek. In fact, there was a fisherman wading in the stream just to my left as I shot this (I probably looked odd standing next to the stream in office attire).

What really caught my eye when I shot this were the deep shadows of the trees that were cast on the bridge by the setting sun. I worked on this image both in color and in black and white. I wasn't sure which looked better, so I decided to post the color image today and the black and white image tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by.
