For Carol...

Posted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 2 May 2008 in Plants & Nature and Portfolio.

Today's photograph is dedicated to my wonderful wife, Carol, with whom we're celebrating our wedding anniversary today.

We met as friends in high school (I always made sure I would see her get on the school bus), went to our prom together and then started dating. I would loiter in her father's store while she was working just so I would get the chance to talk to her (it's a wonder he never threw me out!). We managed to stay together through our college years even as we followed different paths to different schools in different states. Somehow even with all that distance between us, we knew we were meant for each other and got married right after college. Four kids and 21 years later, we're still together and as happy as ever. She's been with me through thick and thin, good times and bad. She is my best friend, biggest supporter, and greatest teacher. She is my compass that always points true north.

I hate to think what life would be like today had I not offered you that ride home after school that day. I'm so glad I did. And I'm so glad you accepted. Happy Anniversay, babe. I love you very much.
