Sheeder-Hall Bridge in MonochromePosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 3 May 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This is Sheeder-Hall Bridge again, but in black and white. Although I liked the warm tones of the sunset in the previous post, I'm not sure if I like this better in black and white or color. Any preferences? "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

Betty from New Jersey, United StatesHmmm... tough one, I actually like both. The warm color of the other one is beautiful, but I like the shadows in the black and white verison. 3 May 2008 11:59pm Wizened Eye from United StatesWell, I'm not the one to ask, for just this afternoon I gave thought to black and white and promptly dismissed it with a "Why?" : ) Without conscious thought on the matter, my own work shows a love of color. Early morning and late evening sun always send me off to look for the right photo. So while the grayscale image is interesting because of the bold tree shadows, it makes me think of old museums... I love that warm, rich red. Just a personal preference. I'm sure others will see things the other way 'round. Nice pic either way, really. 4 May 2008 12:58am GJC from Kyoto, JapanBetween this and the color? This isn't even a contest! The color wins hands-down. After all, the image is about the color, the color of the bridge and the stone brought out by the warm sun. This B&W is a pleasant image, to be sure, but the color one is magic. 4 May 2008 10:02pm Angry Buddha from United StatesI have several shots of this bridge, but I can never get an angle I like. I tried to get a shot of the inside, but almost got run over nine times! For a one lane bridge, it's awful busy. I myself like the color version more. 9 May 2008 12:42pm |
