Last LightPosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 4 May 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This was taken in Birchrunville about two weeks ago just up the road from the Sheeder-Hall Covered Bridge that was posted yesterday. The sun was just setting behind the hill to the right. It was all I could do to try to minimize the lens flare while I shot this, which required holding the camera with one hand and blocking out the sun with the other hand (and trying desperately not to get my hand in the image!). I like how the backlighting from the sun lit up the emerging yellow-green leaves giving them an autumnal appearance, when in fact it was early spring. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

Betsy Barron from Glenmoore, United StatesSo much to see in this shot - the gorgeous light, the almost mirror shot of the tree behind it, the two levels of trees along the horizon and the crisp lines of the barn! You never disappoint, RD and I'm glad you stopped to catch this moment 4 May 2008 11:57am GJC from Kyoto, JapanThis is magical. The light is the star and it's perfectly captured in that tree (and what a beautiful shape!). Nicely framed. 4 May 2008 9:59pm |
