Bridge Over Swamp Creek

Posted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 23 May 2008 in Architecture and Portfolio.

This is an old stone arch bridge near Zieglerville, Pennsylvania that has been closed for many years. A modern concrete bridge that is much less elegant is located just a few yards downstream and carries the main road over this creek. I guess when the bridge fell into disrepair, the township figured it was redundant to have two bridges located so close together and just decided not to spend the money to repair it. So they barricaded it and it is no longer used.

I decided to stop and check it out one evening and decided that it looked like an interesting setting for a potential photoshoot with a model (I do those kinds of shoots now and then in addition to shooting landscapes). Can't you just picture someone in a bright red dress or a white dress perched on the rocks beneath the arch in an artistic pose? I like the idea of having the model in a dress because it will greatly contrast with the stone bridge and natural surroundings. Anyone have any interesting ideas for poses?
