Ten Years GonePosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 10 August 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. I photographed this earlier this summer when we were about to get our first significant heat wave of the season. The air was so thick with humidity that morning that you could spread it on toast. I like the remnants of the tree house in the main subject. It reminded me of the tree fort that Rob, Ed, and I built when we were little kids in a farm field not unlike this one. We managed to build it without adult help, supervision, or our parents' knowledge, for that matter. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

don from spokane, United StatesThis foggy scene makes a fine picture with the composition you've created. I like the placement of the tree and the receding visibility adds much appeal to the image. 10 Aug 2008 2:30pm Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesThis brings with it such a sense of peace, and it obviously evoked memories for you; that's a good thing. 10 Aug 2008 5:56pm Eric Fry from Houston, TX, United StatesA very beautifully composed scene, Russ. It reminds me of an old Marillion song, "A ghost of a mist was on the field, the grey and the green together." 11 Aug 2008 2:18am Betty from New Jersey, United StatesYou can just feel that it's going to be hot and humid! Beautiful composition, Russ. Well done. 11 Aug 2008 10:50am |
