Lunch TimePosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 14 September 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. A sanderling feeding on a sand flea at Delaware Shores State Park. For some reason, I'm fascinated with watching these tiny little birds walk up and down the shore. Their entire lives are spent running toward the waves then running away from the waves, as they come crashing onto the beach. Back and forth. Back forth. They never stop moving, just like the waves that they chase. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

Well done. 14 Sep 2008 1:01pm Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesThis is such a sweet image. Beautiful! Really beautiful. I love to watch the shore birds skitter along the edge of the surf. I love to hear their high pitched calls. A few weeks ago I actually saw a couple of sandpipers on the road near the river by my house when I was on my morning run. I had never seen one so far inland before. 15 Sep 2008 12:14am Betsy Barron from Glenmoore, United StatesI like the soft blurring in of the waves coming ashore - really makes the subject pop! lovely soft colors as well.. 15 Sep 2008 2:30pm |
