Dawn Is BreakingPosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 18 November 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This is Marsh Creek Lake as seen from the west boat launch this past October. I shot this during an outing with some friends from the Chester County Camera Club, of which I am a member. All of us there came away with some remarkable images that morning. Then, after the quality of the morning light tapered off, we adjourned to a local eatery for a hot breakfast and some great conversation. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

Kathryn from Warburton, Australiawow sounds like a great way to start the day! i love this image - such strong colours...i think that i actually like the reflection more than the real sky! wonderful! 18 Nov 2008 5:27am Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesSo wonderful. I hear the song "Morning has Broken" when I look at this. I will have that in my head all day which is just fine! 18 Nov 2008 11:52am @Laurie: Thanks. I love that old song, especially the version by Cat Stevens. Now it's in my head, too. Now that you brought it up, Laurie, I think I'll retitle this image with that song title. The title was originally inspired by lyrics from a Grateful Dead song, but I think the Cat Stevens song is more fitting. Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesBeautiful shot - lovely color - great reflections and I too, will sing the hymn Laurie named! 18 Nov 2008 1:34pm Tony Duque from Raleigh, United StatesWonderful shot, Russ... and a fun story, to boot. Love the way the few ripples distort the reflected clouds. Thanks for sharing your good fortune, your fun and your skill! 18 Nov 2008 1:42pm @Betsy Barron: Thank you. Funny you should say that. This will be one of the prints that will be framed and hanging in Eagle Gallery and offered for sale. Hopefully, it will sell along with my other prints. Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesBeautiful cloud cover, well reflected. I like the way you captured this. And breakfast with friends is a great way to cap off your morning shoot. 18 Nov 2008 2:53pm philib from dijon, FranceHere is an exit(release) of club that ended with very beautiful images, bravo. 18 Nov 2008 8:55pm DarkElf from Perth, Australiafantastic photo! superb light and composition, the reflection is just brilliant! 18 Nov 2008 11:57pm Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainThe sky was great but you catched a wonderful reflection also. 19 Nov 2008 6:41am Magda from Vancouver, CanadaBeautiful! I look forward to seeing it printed and hanging in the gallery. I think great images should be printed and seen that way also. It is interesting to see the different images of Marsh Creek each of you captured on that same morning. 21 Nov 2008 1:55pm |
