Autumn GlowPosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 6 December 2008 in Landscape & Rural. This is an image taken earlier this autumn at Camp Serranova while on a recent camping trip with our Boy Scout troop. The camp is located near Macungie, not far from Bear Creek ski resort. Not long after I crawled out from inside my nice warm sleeping bag that morning, I took a stroll down by the pond next to our camp site to capture the morning sunlight coming through the maple trees. That morning was the first frost of autumn, so it was pretty cold when I got up in the morning and shot this (boy, did my sleeping bag feel nice). When I finished shooting, I returned to a hot breakfast of Texas french toast, bacon, and coffee, courtesy of Mr. Dotti, our cook for that weekend. There's nothing like a hot breakfast cooked outside on a crisp, autumn morning. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainBeautiful lighting of the trees against that background also beautiful. I like it very much. 6 Dec 2008 1:21pm Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesThe light is splendid and the description of your morning fits so well with this shot. I would not have guessed it was so cold from looking at this warm inviting light on the leaves. 6 Dec 2008 2:45pm laanba from Houston, United StatesI love the light shining through the leaves. Such a beautiful color. 6 Dec 2008 3:59pm |
