This Old HousePosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 22 December 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. Just an old abandoned house that I found in the woods one day while out for a short drive one winter afternoon. The house has stood here abandoned and in disrepair for the longest time and I was waiting for the right conditions under which to portray its emptiness. It has since been torn down sometime after I made this photo. Since it is getting more and more into the winter season and closer to Christmas, I thought I would post a few winter-type images. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

Paco Díaz from SpainYes, I think that you made the picture in the right time. 22 Dec 2008 6:01am Suzanne from Huntington Bch, United StatesA great capture. You picked the perfect time and processing to preserve a sad and lonely moment in time. 22 Dec 2008 6:01am Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesAwesome! I am surprised it can stand under the weight of snow. It seems to be in a very fragile condition. 22 Dec 2008 11:54am zOOm from Paris, FranceMysterious and somehow threatening atmosphere... probably because the house seem so isolated surrounded like this by trees... nice desaturated colors. 22 Dec 2008 11:57am Monte Stevens from Fort Collins, United StatesThat is the thing we photographers will do, envision and image and know when to take it. If you care to share, what sort of post processing did you use on this one? 22 Dec 2008 5:26pm Mary from PA, United StatesNice capture! Did all those doors open? I see 3 or 4 side by side. Interesting to look at. Folks sure did use what they had on hand to build a little place off in the woods. It sure is nice to have a place to get away even if it 's not fancy. 22 Dec 2008 8:16pm Beth & Dave, christmanimages.com from United StatesRuss, this is awesome! I love it. What a find. I would be visiting this one through the seasons. 22 Dec 2008 8:49pm john4jack from Corvallis, United StatesAnother photograph that is like a beautiful painting. 23 Dec 2008 12:02am Deanna Rose from federal way, United Statesgreat capture! i love the dreamy effect! 23 Dec 2008 9:26am Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesBeautifully done, Russ.
