Zig-ZagPosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 25 February 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio. No, not the stuff with which you roll cigarettes, but a set of steps I found at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. I caught a brief glimpse of the shadows for a split second as the patchy clouds passed in front of the sun. So, once again, I hung around patiently waiting for that exact moment when the light was just right, so I could record this interesting shadow pattern. I think I was rewarded with 30 seconds of bright sun and deep, dark shadows, until the clouds passed over the sun again. That's all I needed. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

I like the toning as well.. 25 Feb 2009 1:00pm @Betsy Barron: Yeah, the photo competition last night was sort of like being on American Idol with our version of Simon Cowell, wasn't it, Bets? "Oh look, a set of steps...not sure I understand what's going on here...nice toning and shadows though...you were obviously going for something here, but whatever it was, you missed!" LOL. Judge's comments don't bother me. You just have to let them roll off your back like most other things. It's just one person's opinion. At least it made for a very entertaining evening! And I thank you for your kind comments, Bets. Frédéric A. from Païta, New CaledoniaJ'aime bien la tonalité monochrome chaud de cette image graphique.
