Spring Is Here

Posted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 20 April 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

I don't normally shoot flower photos, but I have a soft spot for wildflowers. I shot this one afternoon during a lunchtime walk. The shaft of sunlight falling solely on this flower just spoke to me. If anyone has any idea of the name of this wildflower, I'd love to hear from you. It doesn't appear in my wildflower field guidebook.

"The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

Most likely Bloodroot Russ. Nice simple image. I like the light on it and how it isolates it.

It's a Sanguinaria canadensis, Bloodroot. If you cut the steem or the roots, it will appear a red-orange juice. Beautiful shot!

Beautiful capture, and well seen! Yes, Bloodroot, which don't last long. Look for the kidney shaped leaves next time you walk by.
