Spring Is HerePosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 20 April 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. I don't normally shoot flower photos, but I have a soft spot for wildflowers. I shot this one afternoon during a lunchtime walk. The shaft of sunlight falling solely on this flower just spoke to me. If anyone has any idea of the name of this wildflower, I'd love to hear from you. It doesn't appear in my wildflower field guidebook. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

I like the light on it and how it isolates it. 20 Apr 2009 3:08pm DarkElf from Perth, Australiasuperb work! i really like how you chose a dark background as the flower is set apart and in focus very nicely! 21 Apr 2009 2:11am Martine Lapointe from Québec, CanadaIt's a Sanguinaria canadensis, Bloodroot. If you cut the steem or the roots, it will appear a red-orange juice. Beautiful shot! 21 Apr 2009 3:13am Anita from West Nottingham, United StatesBeautiful capture, and well seen! Yes, Bloodroot, which don't last long. Look for the kidney shaped leaves next time you walk by. 21 Apr 2009 3:04pm Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesThe light is absolutely wonderful.
