Mourning Dove at Hawk Mountain

Posted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 25 April 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

While out shooting with Dan Creighton, I found this little guy perched behind me on a sandstone outcrop at the summit of Hawk Mountain on Thursday evening as I was photographing the sunset. I like the edge lighting on his face from the setting sun.

"The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

He was very cooperative for you Russ. Didn't think he would sit still long enough for you. That rim lighting is nice.

amazing light here in this shot! very good composition too! the little bit of a glow catches the eye and places interest on the dove - i also like the DOF here - great work all around!
