Forest in FogPosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 10 May 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This was photographed last weekend at Green Lane park at the Boy Scout Jambo (Liberty Jam '09) sponsored by the Cradle of Liberty Council, Boy Scouts of America. The Jambo was a weekend filled with fun activities and entertainment for local Boy Scout troops and Cub Scout Packs in my area. The Jambo included activities such as rock wall climbing, boating, archery, scuba diving, hot air ballooning, rock band competitions, continuous music, an evening rock concert and fireworks. The event attracted about 5,000 scouts and leaders. I was in charge of coordinating all the photography for the event and producing a slideshow that was shown as part of the evening entertainment. Thanks to the talented help of Paul Michko, JustBob Lott, Betsy Barron, Dan Creighton, Pat Shorten and Emilie Barber, we were able to pull off the slideshow in short order. This was the scene just outside the campground as night began to fall that Friday evening just before the opening ceremonies of the Jambo. The skies opened up for a downpour just as the scout troops were arriving for the weekend to set up their camps, then heavy fog enveloped the entire park that night. Even though I was documenting the scouting events as they unfolded, I couldn't resist taking a few landscape images. For more information on Boy Scouting and the Jambo, go to www.colbsa.org. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

Dan Creighton from Pottstown, United StatesRuss- This is awesome. Very engaging. The cool vs warm tones, the graphic silhouettes of the trees, and the different feeling of having photographed at night really makes this work. 10 May 2009 1:09pm Jen from St. George, United StatesBeautiful shot! The colors are great. It almost makes me think of some movie when the aliens have landed in the forest. :) 10 May 2009 6:11pm Betsy Barron from Chester Springs, PA, United Statesahhhh the delicious fog! great shot, RD 10 May 2009 11:01pm DarkElf from Perth, Australiasuperb light - very nicely controlled and used to maximum effect here - the resulting mood is very mysterious and magical! 11 May 2009 6:55am Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesThis is such a wonderful foggy image.
