Katydid ChorusPosted by Russ Devan (New Hanover, United States) on 3 September 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. I shot this a few weeks ago during an evening walk at Hopewell Furnace, which is a restored early American iron-making village, about 20 minutes from New Hanover. I remember the katydids that evening were exceptionally vocal as I walked along the road and through the trees as fog started to form along the ground. Katydids are a common but sublime sound of late summer evenings around here. "The Master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both."

Chris from South Jersey, United Statesbeautiful colors - a hint of almost every color in the rainbow here, and the mist adds that mysterious touch.... 3 Sep 2009 11:09am Betsy Barron from Chester Springs, PA, United Statesnice one, RD - like the purples and the mood 3 Sep 2009 9:11pm Tony Duque from Raleigh, United StatesWow, Russ... that's simply a wonderful shot! I'm thinking the light was perfect for this capture... my guess: no need for hdr. Maybe just a little color adjustment, that's it. That is one tranquil view... and one terrific picture. Thanks for sharing it with us! You can almost hear the katydids! 3 Sep 2009 9:48pm Curly from South Shields, United KingdomRus you have recorded some beautiful hues and tones in this one. 6 Sep 2009 7:47pm |
